Developers behind the InterContinental San Diego ““ a partnership comprised of Portman Holdings, Hensel Phelps, Lankford & Associates and China Orient Summit Capital “” have been selected as the recipients of the 2016 InterContinental® Hotels and Resorts Developer of the Year Award for the Americas region by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, in recognition of their commitment and outstanding contributions to the InterContinental® San Diego hotel project.

The hotel is currently under construction on the waterfront in downtown San Diego. It is slated to open in 2018. The project was noted for its innovative, design-driven features, including two glass facade ballrooms, expansive indoor and outdoor meeting space, an elevated registration lobby, restaurant, pool and Sky Lounge all with spectacular water and ocean views.
The 400-room, 19-story hotel will be part of a multi-phase mixed-use development, known as BRIC, on the former site of Lane Field in the North Embarcadero area of downtown San Diego.
