James Walsh
James Walsh joined Portman in July 2020. Since joining Portman, he has worked on the sourcing, financing, or development of 1,420 multifamily residential homes and 600,000 SF of commercial space.
His responsibilities include executing the life-cycle of active development projects, managing project budgets and schedules, creating financial models and entitlement concepts to analyze new projects, and pursuing new business opportunities. James is primarily focused on multifamily and mixed-use projects.
James has notably worked on recent Portman projects: Sora at Spring Quarter, a 370-unit residential community in Midtown Atlanta, and Starling, a 359-unit residential community in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood.
Before joining Portman, James held roles at Cygnus Capital and South Coast Commercial. In these roles, he concentrated on acquisitions & asset management of private real estate investments in the Sunbelt region, involving both fee simple property and debt investing. Throughout his tenure, James worked on the acquisition of 30 separate properties totaling 810,000 square feet.
James holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia. He is a member of ICSC, ULI Atlanta, and the UGA Terry College of Business Young Alumni Board.
