Jeffery L. Portman, Sr.

Jeff Portman is a visionary leader in commercial real estate development and management, best known for his role as Chairman and CEO of AMC, Inc. and AmericasMart. Over his 40+ year career, he spearheaded the rebranding of the Atlanta Market Center into AmericasMart in 1996, expanded its national and global presence, and ultimately led the successful sale of AMC, Inc. and AmericasMart to International Market Centers in 2018.
A native Atlantan, Jeff has been deeply involved in shaping the city’s business and civic landscape. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Atlanta Committee for Progress, and the Board of The Lovett School, his alma mater. Among the many accolades he has received, two of the most meaningful were being named Citizen of the Year by Mayor Shirley Franklin in 2007 and his induction into the Hospitality Hall of Fame by the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2021. Jeff’s commitment to fostering economic growth and community development continues to have a lasting impact on Atlanta’s business ecosystem.
Jeff earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Georgia State University and later completed an executive MBA at Harvard University, equipping him with the strategic insight to lead and grow complex business enterprises.
