Kaunteya Chitnis
As Managing Director of Hospitality, Kaunteya Chitnis leads the company’s hotel development strategy. With over a decade of real estate experience, he spearheads Portman’s hospitality initiatives, focusing on new projects and managing existing assets and dispositions across the country.
Kaunteya joins Portman from MCR, the third largest hotel owner-operator in the United States, where he served as Senior Vice President. In this role, he led acquisitions, dispositions, development, and capital market activities. During his decade-long tenure at MCR, Kaunteya was instrumental in executing over $3 billion in hotel transactions and development projects. Among his notable achievements is the development of the 512-room TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport, a marquee project that has garnered significant acclaim.
Prior to his time at MCR, Kaunteya was a Senior Associate in Ernst & Young’s Transaction Real Estate Group. There, he advised hospitality and leisure clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and valuation. He began his professional career at Citibank’s Institutional Clients Group, where he gained valuable experience in finance and client management.
