Steve Stavich

As Executive Vice President of Portman Financial, LLC, Steve works with the Portman Companies and leads tax compliance and consulting efforts. With extensive experience in tax structuring, due diligence, REIT testing, and other complex tax matters, he plays a key role in ensuring compliance while optimizing tax strategies for the Companies.  Steve is a Member of the Board of Directors of PFI Manager, Inc. and Portman Manager, Inc., and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Portman Industrial, LLC and PTL Residential, LLC, as well as officer of numerous Portman Companies.

Before joining Portman, Steve built a strong foundation in real estate tax strategy at a Big Four Accounting firm, where he specialized in compliance and advisory services for the firm’s real estate sector. He worked extensively with REITs and real estate funds, advising on structuring, compliance, and due diligence matters. Steve’s early career was rooted in legal research and analysis gained through externships with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Florida Supreme Court, as well as an internship at the Florida Third District Court of Appeals.

Steve holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida – Fredric G. Levin College of Law, where he earned the Book Award for Procedures in Tax Fraud. He also graduated magna cum laude and second in his class with a J.D. from Florida International University – College of Law, receiving multiple academic honors. Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida, where he was actively involved in leadership and service initiatives.
