About Embarcadero
The Embarcadero Center boasts five office towers, two hotels, and retail spaces, totaling an impressive 4.3 million square feet.
Portman Holdings orchestrated the development of the Embarcadero Center across multiple phases spanning from 1971 to 1989. This endeavor transformed a former warehouse district into a hub of premium real estate, igniting a wave of urban renewal in the process. Spanning eight city blocks, the complex stands as one of the largest mixed-use developments in the western United States. Its significance and excellence were recognized with the Urban Land Institute’s prestigious Award of Excellence in 1984.
The creation of this remarkable property was a collaborative effort, with Portman Holdings partnering alongside David Rockefeller and Prudential, who were investors of the project, to bring this vision to life.
